Earlier this week I had the opportunity to visit Blancpain and even had the chance to briefly meet Mr. Hayek. On his wrist I noticed a very interesting watch, most likely a prototype for next year’s big 70th anniversary of the Fifty Fathoms.

I can’t provide any details, but to me it clearly looked smaller than 45mm and larger than 40mm. When you take a closer look you will see it apparently is a new 70th Anniversary Fifty Fathoms or at least (maybe even likely) a prototype of it, with some notable similarities to the 2003 special edition.

I got the blessing from Blancpain to share this photo with you, and I am very grateful for the opportunity to provide this promising first impression in the blog.

Blancpain are also starting the pre-communication for the anniversary year. I saw this ad in the New York times, which provides the opportunity to scan a code with your smartphone and visit Blancpain’s official communication. This works from this photo, so check it out.
