Yesterday I had the exceptional honor to welcome the brand new Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Ocean Commitment III for a photo session.
The watch is officially launched today, and there could be no better timing to celebrate Blancpain’s Ocean Commitment activities with the third edition of the commemorative timepiece on World Ocean Day.
In absence of an ocean nearby to be used as a background, I focused on getting some absolutely untreated hands-on photos to you. Some Blancpain books came very handy as a fitting background as well.
Now, when I unpacked the OC III I did not know what to expect, a third Bathyscaphe Chronographe would have been logical, but somehow I thought it might be different this time… and right I was!
A 40mm Fifty Fathoms in brushed steel with the mesmerizing blue dial and sapphire bezel, coming with both sailcloth and Nato strap, limited to 250 pieces worldwide.
It is of course closely related to the beautiful Fifty Fathoms Tribute to MilSpec, it shares the case, the crystal, the dial layout, the hands, the movement. Instead of the moisture indicator you find the Ocean Commitment logo printed on the dial… in a quality that is second to none as you can see from this photo:
One nice improvement over the MilSpec is that the OC III now uses spring bars to fix the strap, so now it is easy to switch from sailcloth to Nato.
Here are some close up shots of this beauty, hopefully you will get a sense for the strong character of the OC III from those:
Some shots against the bright sunlight to reveal more details and the full beauty of the dial:
And finally a series of wrist shots…
I hope you enjoyed the introduction, I will spend the weekend shooting more photos of the watch. I actually very much regret I need to send it back on Monday…
A heartfelt THANK YOU VERY MUCH goes to Blancpain for having granted me the honor to take the Fifty Fathoms Ocean Commitment III on a photo session in time for the launch!
Cheers
Henrik
