It is my utmost pleasure to share my hands-on impressions with two utterly beautiful timepieces, the brand new Villeret Quantieme Complet and the Villeret Ultra plat, both with a red gold case combined with a midnight blue dial. Let’s get up close with references 6651-3640 and 6654-3640.
I have tried to capture the two new Villeret timepieces under varying light conditions to allow for a most accurate reflection of the real colors. you will find photos under natural light, both bright and in the shade, as well as artificial light close ups with and without using the light ring of the Loupe System I used on my iPhone.
A Blancpain signature timepiece finding a new expression
Now let us get into detail with a signature configuration of Blancpain, the complete calendar with moon phases. The name of this timepiece is Villeret Quantieme Complet, the reference number is 6654-3640-55.
This new version of reference 6654 is no doubt a real eye-catcher: the combination of the warm red gold case, numerals and hands with an outstanding midnight blue dial is extrovert and subtle at the same time.
The dial appearance varies significantly depending on light conditions. It is very discreet under dim light or in the shade and it sparkles when exposed to direct sunlight. Here are some wrist shots and a short video to illustrate my point:
The 40mm red gold case is a little under 11mm high, and of course it features the patented under-lug correctors which make the setting of the calendar functions an easy and very enjoyable task. The watch is powered by caliber 6654, which is based on the well known 1151. The movement has 321 parts, a silicon balance-spring and provides a power reserve of 3 days.
Pure elegance in exciting colors
Even more discreet is the second new timepiece, the Villeret Ultra Slim, reference 6651-3640-55, in the same striking configuration.
Creating a time and date only watch that still knows to spread excitement is a difficult task. In my opinion this new version of the Villeret Ultra Slim ticks all boxes, but judge for yourselves.
The watch wears very well on the wrist, and it can easily be pictured in a more formal setting as well as in the casual style of the following wrist shots.
The 40mm red gold case has a height of only 8,7mm, the watch is powered by caliber 1151 with silicon balance-spring, providing 4 days of power reserve. The 18ct gold rotor shows the Villeret typical honeycomb decoration, which is another highlight of this timepiece, especially in combination with the dial side.
A beautiful pair
Both timepieces wear true to their nominal size, maybe a bit smaller due to the combination of the midnight blue dial and the red gold case.
The Villeret Quantieme Complet and the Villeret Ultra Plat have been in the Blancpain catalogue for many years, but in this new execution they appear as brand new time models. I can imagine both becoming a huge success with collectors and enthusiasts.
I hope you enjoyed the hands-on report and the photos.
