My top 3 watches of 2018

This year I had the pleasure of more encounters with new Blancpain timepieces than ever before. Obviously Baselworld was the main event for the Blancpain novelties, but in 2018 we have got some new and exciting watches throughout the year, with the latest one being introduced just prior to Christmas.

I think it’s fair to say that it has been a very strong year for Blancpain. For those who love the timepieces made in Le Brassus and Le Sentier it brought a lot of new temptations, what more could you ask for?

Now, I’d like to share my personal favorites from this year’s novelties, and I must admit it was a tough choice, especially for the third place: the Fifty Fathoms Grande Date titanium:

This watch to me was long overdue, a brushed titanium case, a fresh look when it comes to the dial for the fact, that the 3 and 9 have been left out, and obviously the amazing large date… this watch is a serious competitor to the iconic Fifty Fathoms Automatique!

The second place in my book was a comparatively easy choice, the Fifty Fathoms Ocean Commitment III:

Whether on the original blue Nato strap, a colorful cognac leather Nato or the bracelet I was able to get customized with the help of the Blancpain Boutique Munich, this timepiece is stunning in all aspects and at the same time the most beautiful way to support the Ocean Commitment initiative.

Finally, and without a second of hesitation, the absolute star of 2018 is a watch so sensual and beautiful it took my breath away, the Tourbillon Volant Heure Sautante Minute Retrograde:

To me this marvel is a perfect translation of the ethics of Blancpain into a timepiece: subtle, timeless, creative, perfectly executed and refined in every aspect. This watch will forever remain a dream for me, but not every dream has to necessarily come true 😉

I wish all of you and your loved ones a good start into a hopefully healthy and peaceful 2019!
