Haute Horlogerie meets Haute Cuisine: At the Sylt Gourmet Festival with Blancpain

Since many years selected Chefs combine their art and craftmanship with the horological finesse of Blancpain, acting as brand ambassadors. Traditionally the Blancpain publication Lettres du Brassus covers Haute Cuisine as well as Haute Horlogerie, and sometimes there is a rare opportunity to join both arts during an event.

Last weekend, Blancpain invited to join them and their German brand ambassador Chef Holger Bodendorf during the 19th annual Sylt Gourmet Festival. With great pleasure and fantastic memories I can share some impressions taken during the event, although I will focus on the horological elements 😉

Chef Holger Bodendorf’s home base, the Landhaus Stricker on the German island of Sylt, was decorated appropriately to welcome the guests…

Alongsside a fantastic dinner, prepared by Chef Holger Bodendorf and his guest Chef Reto Lampart from Switzerland, and accompanied by a wide range of Dom Perignon vintage champagnes, you had the opportunity to get up close with the timepieces Blancpain brought to the event. The atelier chef of Blancpain Munich was also available to address all technical questions and provide insight into the components of a fine mechanical watch.

The next day offered a Gourmet Safari, visiting five locals Chefs and their guest Chefs from other countries, a journey full of culinary surprises and inspiration. After a long day even the oversized Fifty Fathoms needed some chill out time at the bar…

On Saturday it was time to rest from all those impressions, although I took the opportunity to utilize the breakfast room as a photo studio and treat myself in the best way possible, surrounded by Blancpain timepieces you do not encounter all to often 🙂

Here are some of of the photos I took, I will certainly share more pictures dedicated to the individual timepieces shortly. In following order please enjoy the Villeret 12 Jours Tourbillon, the Villeret Carrousel, the Villeret Quantieme Complet, the 500 Fathoms, the impressive Ladybird and finally one of my personal favourites, the Villeret Quantieme Perpetuel 8 Jours:
